Hey guy's
So I have a kitchenaid w10722060b where the display is just dead.
a few weeks ago, it went blank, so I pulled the plug, and reseated and all ok
now the same thing

The sparky thing works as does the burner, pressing any button does nothing, also no oven light,
when door is open.
I pulled the oven forward and no damage I can see
Pulled the plug and left it for 5 minutes and still nothing?
I was going to venture to have a look to see if the control board is covered in goop
I found a similar model on youtube link below to show you what mine looks like,
always been great, out of w'tee
any ideas

So I started to take things apart, I pulled apart the display part and I could see anything obvious.
I could see the control board and could not see any obvious signs of damage or oil etc in the board
but taking that out is a bit more complicated

there appear to be 3 separate electronic parts

1> display
2> key panel
3> Control board

I'm guessing that if the display died, pressing any buttons should illicit, bleeps or something
the key panel, just looks like a logic board, but it's sealed in with goop,, to stop water egress
I'm gonig next to pull the board and inspect it carefully, I'm thinking this is going to b around
400-500 bucks, if I see any obvious damage

but the problem is fault finding it, I read that the most common issue of a dead display
is a bad control board, I don't know if it needs to be programed

it sounds like a control board issue this being a typical example of control board failure, however I have little or no technical info on this model so this would be just an educated guess from this end.

Yeah, it sounds like it, I'm going to have a crack at pulling it, as I now feel a bit more confident, after taking the front control panel off,  I'm still going to inspect the board and get the number off the board.

I have a nasty feeling it's gonna be in the 500 bucks range, as far as I can see, there doesn't appear to have any micro's on it, just discreet components.

Maybe  the connections just need to be pulled and refit.

My concern is if it doesnt work, I'll need to pay to get someone in. ANY way one step at a time.
Maybe I'll take some video of this.

Thanks for the prompt replies as well always m8 !

Hey I'm just posting a video in a minute, or in a while, but I just thought.... it could be a thermal fuse,

I'm posting a link, I have a feeling this might be a quick and easy way to check.

If I am able to, can I test the following

1> resistance ? should be open circuit right ?
2> Can I temp. put a short or by pass the fuse ? Just to prove its working.

I'm hesitant to do 2, if I can get a fuse, it's like a few bucks

actually just looking at a serv. tech notes

it says if I put a DVM on 2 points on the control board plug I should read 1k-1.2k ohms at room temp,

I found that soumetimes on doing a self-clean the fuse can short out.

I'm wondering if the touch panel accidentally went into self-clean

ok txs
