Kenmore 110.92836100
The dryer stopped working today. When I try to start the dryer, I hear a beep, a click, and then nothing. I waited a few minutes, unplugged and re-plugged, and then I heard a beep, a click, and some unpleasant humming. I tested the thermal fuse and I have continuity on both sides, with the wires unplugged. Because of the humming I haven't tested the control board because I assume humming indicates a bad motor.

When I tested the motor, Kenmore says I should be looking for a resistance of 2.4-3.6 ohms on the Main, and similar on the start. On both readings I got 1.1 ohms. Also the dryer drum was difficult to turn. I removed the motor completely to investigate further, and it's difficult to turn the motor. I don't know how easy it should be to turn, but this seems more difficult than I'd imagine.

Am I correct in assuming I need a new motor, or did I miss something that I should check first?
Thanks in advance. I respect appliance repair people because I don't have the patience for this sh*t. If it wasn't my own money I was possibly saving I would have given up hours ago Smile

Hello,
Yes if the humming is coming from the motor then the motor has likely seized up.
This is the correct motor for your model  https://www.speedyapplianceparts.com/whirlpool-279787-dryer-drive-motor-replacement/

Thanks. I took the motor to an appliance parts store near me and he said the same thing.
