On a 13 minute Drain and Spin cycle, everything (Draining and spinning)
seems fine. It spins normal, the pump is draining the water. Then at the
start of minute 7, a LOUD grinding starts as the tub spins. Here is a video:

Then about 40 seconds later the spinning and grinding slows down
and the grinding just stops, but the tub spins normal. Here is another
video of that:

Then I can smell something like burning plastic.
Any help on fixing, parts, or if it is worth fixing or requires a skilled repairman to fix, please let me know.

Thanks!

Good Morning and thanks for posting!

I would recommend taking the back off of the unit to see if you can see any worn parts underneath the tub. There are several plastic gear pieces that could be failing. I would also make sure the drive belt is still intact.

The drive motor could be failing too. To determine if the washer motor is defective, remove the drive belt from the washer and then run the motor. If the motor is still loud, this indicates that the drive motor is defective and needs to be replaced.

If you have any questions just let us know!
