My GE space saver washer/dryer combo is acting really weird. It wouldn’t fill at all, until I turned the water temperature knob to warm or hot, then it would fill for a while and stop, only to start again when I open the lid. When I close the lid again the water would run for a few seconds and then stop again. What is going on and how do I fix it?

GE model GTUP270EM4WW

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
It really sounds like your inlet valve is failing.. This one for your model seems to be a problem too because it is out of stock everywhere I have looked  https://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Water-Inlet-Valve/WH13X27314/4588088

For anyone searching for the solution:

I ended up bringing in a repair man. I described the problem. He nodded, reached into the washing machine, reseated the solenoid on the water valve and it worked.

The tub had been unbalanced to the point of swinging around and hitting other parts of the washer, including the magnetic lid switch. Luckily that still works.
