A very common problem for many gas dryers such as Whirlpool, Kenmore, Maytag is the ignition coils wear out. The 279834 ignition coils set https://www.thriftyapplianceparts.com/whirlpool-279834-valve-coil-for-gas-dryer-replacement/  can be diagnosed by your dryer no longer heating but your ignitor (glow bar) lights for several seconds then clicks off but no flame. After 5 years or so these can wear out where the coil is no longer able to open the gas valve allowing gas to exit and hit the ignitor therefore having the flame required to dry your clothes.
