Appliance Fault/Error Codes

Fault codes vary from one manufacturer to another. This is because each manufacturer uses their own set of codes to help identify problems with their appliances. The information in this PDF is set up so that you can search for your code by the manufacturer (Whirlpool, Frigidaire, etc.) and by the type (washer, microwave, etc.) of your appliance.

I have a whirlpool duet washer model GHW9200LW which is 8 years old, and I got an error code 11. Repairman came and he said I wasn't getting enough power to the MCU. I don't feel I got my money out of the washer because I paid over $1000. at the time and I didn't use it hard. But I do live in an area that gets power outages and I guess this is hard on them but what are you suppose to do unplug them. The repairman also said once the CCU goes the MCU usually follows and I'm better off to go buy another waher. Can you please help me? Sometimes I think maybe I'm better off going to the laundromat. Thank-you,

Hello, Marlene! I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Duet washer. Your washer has several control boards in it, including the Central Control Unit (CCU), Motor Control Unit (MCU) and the User Interface Control (UI). The F11 indicates that sometime during the last wash cycle the boards failed to communicate with each other properly. About 75% of the time, this is due to a poor connection. The majority of these codes are "cured" by removing each connector at each control and simply plugging it back into the connector. This will eliminate any connection issue and with a little luck, make your machine work again....with no parts and no expense! Be sure to remove each connector ONE AT A TIME and replace it back on the control. Some of the connectors have a small plastic clip securing them so be careful when releasing and reinstalling the connector. You will need to remove the top cover and the rear panel to reach the boards. The CCU is in the RF corner under the top assembly. The MCU is mounted on the base of the machine under the tub. Be sure to unplug the washer before you begin! Let me know how you do or if you need further instructions.

Hi, F1 indicates a fatal error in the control. It will likely need to be replaced. You may try turning the breaker off for about 10 minutes to try to reset the control, but this rarely works. If it does not, you will need to replace the control. For your convenience, I have uploaded the service manual that can be downloaded at the link below.
