Main board replaced twice. Circuit board replaced. Ice auger motor replaced. Ice door actuator repaired. Complete Ice maker unit replaced. Declared unrepairable by warranty company. I won't give up quite yet because therehas to be a reason for what's happening.

The problem: Initially it was an ice-in-door dispenser problem. When depressing the paddle together ice the auger motor would run, the ice door would open but ice would not dispense. There's my wife and I living the house and we were told we don't use enough ice and the ice is fusing in the bucket. But they replaced the auger motor and some parts for the door actuator. After the LG warranty repairman left we got our first error code 'Er ff'. We called and were told it was a freezer fan error. So the LG repairman returned a few days later with a new board for the door. He replaced the board and told us our 1-year LG warranty was done. The door panel lit up normally but before the end of the day we got a new code 'Er CO'. So now we had to call the extended warranty company.

Nice EW repairman came, looked at the LG and said the main board may not be communicating with the circuit board. He said he will order a new display board based on the last comment made by the LG repairman "You probably got a bad board". So EW repairman orders a new board for the door. A week later EW repairman installs new board in the door, it lights up, he leaves and before the end of day the Er CO code appears and no ice/no water. I text EW repairman and he states it may be the circuit board in the back of the fridge. He orders the part and a week or so later returns, installs the part everything is fine and before the end of the day Er CO is back. No ice/water.

My wife uses a few cubes of ice in the morning so I emptied the ice from the ice maker into a small container in the freezer drawer. When I put the ice bucket from the door back in and shut the door a few seconds later the Er CO code cleared and the door display lit up normally. The ice maker started making ice and the water dispenser worked. But later that day the Er CO returned. I contacted EW repairman and he ordered a new ice maker. He installs a complete ice maker unit everything lights up as normal and he leaves. He said there aren't any more things I can do. Later that day the Er CO returns. I text him and state the fridge is showing a code again. Are you going to declare this unrepairable? He said yes.

So to get ice and water I remove the door ice bucket dump the ice, put it back in and we get a few hours with ice and filtered water to fill our Keurig and a bottle kept in the refrigerator. We love the fridge and would like to try something else to get it working. That's our LG story.

It looks like LG doesn't even stock these boards so my guess they know this is an issue and has not come up with improved boards or possibly will just make these parts no longer available.

I emptied the ice bucket as that will reset the board. Waited a few hours and the Er ff code appeared. I saw on a video it may be possible to reset the display panel by pushing the REFRIGERATOR and ENERGY SAVER button at the same time with the right door open. It didn't work so for the heck of it I pushed the REFRIGERATOR and ICE PLUS buttons at the same time with the right door open and it reset the panel. Also I read there is a test button under the ice maker. I pressed it with the ice make 'on' and it didn't rose the tray.

If your theory is correct we might as well start looking for a replacement.

Update: Code returned after 5+ hours. My conclusion is there is an issue with the ce maker circuit board/wiring. As long as the ice maker is making ice everything is fine. Once the ice bucket is full the Er ff code appears followed by the Er CO code. If I take a few cubes out so photo cells can see each other the fridge reboots automatically when I open and close the right hand door. The ice maker test button does nothing. Hall IC bad? Maybe.
