Ok, I have a whirlpool GX900QPPT2 when started the ram proceeds to go down. When it reaches the trash bundle it makes a grinding noise. I have replaced the motor, start switch, as well as the plastic gear kit. I checked the power nuts and was unable to see any damage or cracks, but unit will not compact trash. Any Ideas would be appreciated.

Hi, sorry to hear of your compactor trouble. If you look at the plastic gears, are they missing any teeth at all? Did you install all of the parts in the kit? Are the gears meshing tightly?

The issue has to lie with the gears on the side then that drive the ram down. Everything else is new. Can you tell where the noise comes form?
